Bio: Mike Marostica began playing golf at the age of 12 and quickly immersed himself in the game, working at Saticoy Regional Golf Course that same year. He went on to compete as the #1 or #2 player on the Saint Bonaventure High School golf team throughout all four years. At age 16, he continued his passion for the sport while working at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard, later attending the San Diego Golf Academy to further his golf education.
After deciding not to pursue a professional golf career, Mike joined the Oxnard Police Department, where he served honorably for 27 years. During his tenure, he held key instructional roles, including report writing and driver training, and served as a field training officer, mentoring new recruits in real-time policing. Despite the demands of his law enforcement career, Mike remained active in golf, maintaining a single-digit handicap index and playing regularly for enjoyment and connection.
Following his retirement from OPD in 2020, Mike transitioned into private security and began teaching at the Ventura County Criminal Justice Training Center (Police Academy). He currently plays out of Las Posas Country Club and continues to carry a single-digit handicap. This year marks his first as a golf coach, where he brings decades of discipline, leadership, and love for the game to the next generation of players.
