Why Foothill Tech?
Foothill Technology High School (FTHS) was established as a magnet school during the 2000-2001 school year by the Ventura Unified School District. At FTHS, technology is integrated into a college prep/AP high school curriculum focused on the career pathways of health science and design technology. Students apply for admission through a lottery process. Students receive strategic academic intervention through FIRE (Foothill Intervention Reinforcement, and Education), a mid-day advisory period. Students are recognized and rewarded for academic excellence through our Renaissance Program and are supported in meeting UC/CSU A-G admission requirements through a school-wide AVID program.
Foothill Technology has become a premiere school in the public sector ranking in the top twenty (20) high schools in the state of California and is currently one of the top ranked high schools in Ventura County. Foothill Tech is also a National Blue Ribbon School, ranked in the top 2% of all high schools in America by U.S. News and World Reports, A California Distinguished School, and AVID Demonstration School.
